Nadia Hussain, past winner of The Great British Baking Show/Great British Bake O ff and all around nice person, has a new cooking show on Netflix/The BBC Called “ Nadia’s Time To Eat” . It focuses on quick meals and prepare-ahead dishes. In episode two she shares a recipe for ice cream that is so simple and quick and cheap you’ll hardly believe it.
Made it with cardamom first, as in the recipe, but any flavor that won’t cause the whipping to fail/colapse should be as easy as stirring it in... Next is coffee!
It works great. Here’s the recipe i n it s entirety . I have not left anything out, it really is this simple.
Ingredients:
397g/14oz tin !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
500ml/18fl oz !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (heavy whipping cream in the US)
5 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! pods, seeds removed and crushed (don’t be an idiot and use black cardamom, this should have green)
P ut the condensed milk, cream and crushed cardamom seeds into a bowl. Whip until soft peaks form when the whisk is removed from the bowl, then transfer to a freezer-safe tub and level the top. Freeze.
T hat’ s it.
D one.
It’s a little fluffier and less dense than we’re often used to in ‘M urrica, but it’s tasty and easy as fuck. Again, anything you can add that won’t collapse the whipped cream should be fine for flavor/texture . I think you’d have trouble adding chocolate, though maybe some H ershey’s syrup would work? B ut pretzels, salted caramel bits , various chopped whole or pureed fruits, should all be easy enough.

I wonder why there’s cardamom? Not that I dislike cardamom, but I would’ve thought a vanilla pod would be a better fit here. Still, that’s a crazy simple recipe.
For chocolate, rather than trying to add chunks of it, you may be better off using powdered chocolate that’s normally used for baking. I don’t know if that would be too bitter or if the condensed milk is sweet enough to offset that.
Thanks for this, though, I’ll probably put this to use very soon.

I would think a teaspoon (or less) of vanilla extract would make a nice vanilla ice cream. The Cardamom is really good , I quite like the flavor as ice cream.
